You scrubbed that line for twenty minutes and it's still dark grey. The dark isn't dirt — it's stain worn into the grout, and one pass with this pen covers and seals it so the line reads clean again.
Pick the shade nearest your grout when it's dry, not wet — wet grout always looks two shades darker.
Most bathroom grout sits in the white-to-light-grey range, and if you're between two, go lighter: a line slightly brighter than its neighbours reads clean, a line slightly darker reads dirty.
It's a water-based ink that seals as it dries, so it isn't sitting on top like paint.
Let it cure before water hits it and it stays put through daily showers.

The line you keep scrubbing is not dirt
You get the bleach out, the old toothbrush, twenty minutes on the tiles before people arrive.
You stand up and the lines are still dark grey.
No cleaner was ever going to reach it, because the dark isn't sitting on the grout — it's worn into it.
It was the wrong job.
One pass, and the line reads clean again
Wipe the line dry, run the tip along it once, wipe any overspill off the tile face while it's still wet.
The water-based ink covers the stain and seals the grout in the same pass, so the line is finished the moment it dries — not lighter, not improved, finished.
Twelve shades exist for one reason: the fixed line has to look like the grout next to it, not like a repair.
You do it standing up in most rooms, with a cloth in your other hand.
And the bathroom you were apologising for is just the bathroom again.
Still white when the shower runs
This is the part the category has earned a bad name for: pens that look perfect on day one and flake away by the second week.
A water-based ink seals as it cures instead of sitting on the surface like paint, which is why it survives daily water rather than lifting at the edges.
The formula also resists mould regrowth, so a wet shower wall doesn't go dark again in a month.
The one rule: let the line cure dry before water touches it.
Do the shower wall last and give it the evening.

How it works
Three steps, one line at a time, standing up.
1Wipe it dry
Clean the line and dry it properly. Damp grout pushes the ink onto the tile instead of into the joint.
2Draw once
Run the tip along the line in one pass. Wipe any overspill off the tile face straight away while it's still wet.
3Let it cure
Leave it before water hits it. It seals as it dries, which is why it holds instead of flaking.

Finally understood why the scrubbing wasn't workingI have been cleaning that bathroom floor wrong for about eleven years. Nobody ever told me the dark was in the grout, not on it. Once I read that it clicked and I stopped feeling like a bad housekeeper. Did the perimeter of the shower first because that was the worst of it. Took me maybe 35 minutes. Room looks completely different and I didn't scrub anything.

Held up through three weeks of daily showersBought this mostly because my wife kept mentioning the grout. I figured it would flake in a week like every other product in this category. Three weeks in, two showers a day in that bathroom, still white. I did let it sit overnight before running water which I think matters.
Beth R.Verified07/16/2026
I thought it would look patched but it doesn'tMy grout is original to the house so its been through about fourteen years of shampoo and soap. I was genuinely worried I'd do a few lines and then you'd see exactly where I stopped. You can't tell. I went one shade lighter than I thought I needed which was the right call.
Dana K.Verified07/15/2026
Worked right out of the package, no setupOpened it, shook it, drew a line. That was the whole thing. Used it the same afternoon it arrived.
Guillermo A.Verified07/15/2026
My grout is fifteen years old and it still workedThis was my main worry going in. Every demo you see is a brand new tile with slightly grey grout, which is not what I'm dealing with. Mine is genuinely dark in places. It covered it in one pass. I did have to wipe the tile face a few times but that comes off while its wet.
Tamika S.Verified07/14/2026
Good product, wish it came in more shadesWorks well and covered everything. My grout is a slightly warm beige and the closest match was fine but not perfect. If you have standard white or grey you'll be totally fine. Still glad I got it.
Pete G.Verified07/13/2026
Did it standing up which I did not expectAssumed I'd be on the floor for an hour. Most of the bathroom I did standing with a cloth in the other hand. Knees appreciated it.
Elena T.Verified07/13/2026
The wet vs dry shade tip is the whole thingI almost picked the wrong shade because I was matching it while the floor was still damp from cleaning. The guide says wet grout reads two shades darker and its true. Let it dry, then matched, and its invisible. Cannot stress this enough if youre reading reviews trying to decide.
Cedric D.Verified07/12/2026
Bought a second one for the kitchenDid the bathroom, had some left but not enough to feel confident about the kitchen splashback so I ordered another. If you have two rooms in mind just get two from the start.
Wendy O.Verified07/11/2026
I don't look at the floor anymoreThat sounds small but it isn't. I used to notice it every single time I walked in and now I just don't. Whole bathroom took an evening.
Anika P.Verified07/11/2026
Was worried about it being a cover up not a fixMy concern was that its just paint over mould and its still growing underneath. I cleaned the lines properly first like it says, then drew. It seals the joint which is the part that actually matters. Four weeks and the shower wall hasn't gone dark again.
Frank S.Verified07/10/2026
Straightforward, does what it saysNot much to add. Grout was grey, now its white, took about twenty minutes for the room.
Yolanda G.Verified07/09/2026

Jin-Soo P.Verified07/09/2026
Better than the quote I got for regroutingI had someone come out and look at it last year. The number he gave me was not happening. This was under thirty dollars and honestly the result is fine for what we need.
Kate N.Verified07/08/2026
Took a little longer to arrive than I expectedProduct itself is great, no complaints there. Shipping was a bit slower than the site suggested but it was during a sale so I suspect that's why. Would order again.
Terrell H.Verified07/07/2026
I'm on my feet all day so anything that saves me kneelingWork in a warehouse, last thing I want on a Saturday is an hour on a tile floor. Did most of this standing. Bathroom looks new.
Margaret H.Verified07/06/2026
My daughter recommended it after doing her ownShe sent me a photo of hers and I ordered it that evening. Mine came out just as well. She told me to do the floor edges first and leave the shower wall for last which turned out to be good advice because the shower needs time before you use it again.
Nikhil M.Verified07/06/2026
Held through a full month, no lifting at the edgesThis is the thing I was watching for. Ive had one of these before years ago and it peeled at the edges within a fortnight. This one hasn't. Difference might be that I actually waited before running water this time, I'll admit I didn't before.
Sofía R.Verified07/05/2026
Didn't think I'd use it beyond the one roomOrdered it for the bathroom and ended up doing the kitchen backsplash and the utility room too. Kinda addictive once you start noticing the lines.
Owen G.Verified07/04/2026
Tile face wipes clean easilyI was clumsy with it at first and got ink on the tiles. Comes off with a damp cloth as long as you dont let it sit. After the first couple of lines you get the hang of the angle.
Aaliyah J.Verified07/03/2026
Twenty minutes with bleach, every single week, for yearsThats what I was doing. Every week. Standing up and it looked the same as before I started. I'd more or less accepted it as how the room was. Spent one Sunday afternoon on this instead and its done.
Vicente C.Verified07/02/2026
Colour was slightly off from the photoThe shade I got is a touch cooler than it looked online. Not a problem at all in my case because my grout was quite cool toned anyway, so it ended up fine. Just be aware screens vary.
Hazel N.Verified07/01/2026
No setup, no mixing, no messThats what sold me over the tube stuff. You just draw.
DeShawn M.Verified06/30/2026
Shower wall was the real test and it passedFloor I wasnt worried about. The vertical shower wall is where water runs down it constantly and thats where these things usually fail. Did it a month ago, still good. I gave it the whole evening to cure before anyone used that shower.
Priya S.Verified06/29/2026
Bought a second one for my mother in lawShe has the same problem in her downstairs bathroom and cant get down on the floor anymore. She managed it herself which she was quite pleased about.
Blake K.Verified06/28/2026
Fair price for what it doesCompared a few of these before buying. This was in the middle on price but the anti mould thing swung it for me since my bathroom doesn't have great ventilation.
Cara J.Verified06/27/2026
Works, but I needed more than I orderedNo complaints about the result itself, the lines look good. But I underestimated how much I'd use and ran out about two thirds through the bathroom floor. Had to wait for another to arrive and there was a visible line where I stopped for four days which drove me a bit mad. My fault for only ordering one for a fairly large floor but I'd tell people to go for two.
GroutlineThank you for the honest note, and you're right that one pen doesn't stretch far on a larger floor. That's exactly why the two-pack exists and we should make the coverage clearer before people order. Sorry about the four-day gap in the middle of the job.
Ignacio P.Verified06/26/2026

I had basically given up on that floorNot in a dramatic way, I just decided that was what the room looked like and stopped trying. Saw this and thought why not. Its been three weeks and I still catch myself looking at it.
Todd A.Verified06/24/2026
Fine, does the jobNot much to say. Four stars because it's a pen, it's not going to change my life, but it did what I bought it for.

Gerald W.Verified06/14/2026
Fourteen year old grout, came out cleanHouse was built in 2011 and the grout has never been sealed. Was fully prepared for this to be a waste of money on grout that old. It wasnt. Covered in one pass on most lines, needed a second go on two spots near the drain where its worst.
Fernanda C.Verified06/09/2026
The shade guide in the free download is genuinely usefulI nearly ordered the wrong one. The bit about matching it dry rather than wet saved me. Also the order to work a shower in so youre not drawing over something still damp, I wouldnt have thought of that.
Verified Buyer06/03/2026
Wish it came with a second tipGood product and the result is exactly what I wanted. Just would have been nice to have a spare tip in the box for the price. Minor thing.
Malik R.Verified05/28/2026
Two months in and it hasn't movedWriting this a while after buying because I wanted to see if it lasted. It has. Daily use bathroom, family of four.
Opal G.Verified05/21/2026
Didn't work on my floor but I'm not sure that's the penI used this on the tiles in my conservatory and it hasn't really taken. The lines look patchy and in some spots it came off within a few days. To be fair those tiles are quite rough and porous, more of a stone finish than a glazed tile, and the joints are wide. My sister used the same thing in her bathroom and hers looks great so I might have bought it for the wrong sort of floor. Just putting it out there in case anyone else has the same tiles.
GroutlineThanks for taking the time to write this up so clearly — that's genuinely useful. Rough stone and wide joints behave differently to standard glazed tile and you're right that this is built for the latter. Please do get in touch with our support team and we'll sort you out.
Chayton M.Verified05/12/2026
Packaging was very basicProduct works fine, no issue there at all. Just arrived in a plain bag with nothing in it, which is fine for me but I'd ordered thinking I might give the second one as a small gift and it didn't really suit that.
Lourdes J.Verified04/30/2026
I commute a lot and weekends are shortWhich is why an hour of scrubbing that achieved nothing was so annoying. This was one job, done, and I got my Saturday back.
Questions, answered
Match against your grout when it's dry — wet grout reads two shades darker than it is, which is how people end up choosing wrong.
If you're between two shades, pick the lighter one: a line slightly brighter than its neighbours reads as clean, while a line slightly darker reads as dirty and the eye goes straight to it.
Yes — old, stained grout is exactly what it's for, because that dark is stain worn into a porous joint rather than dirt on top of it.
The one thing that matters is the line being clean and dry before you draw, so wipe it and let it dry properly first.
Clean the line first, then draw.
The ink seals the joint as it cures and the formula resists mould regrowth, so you're not trapping a live problem behind a coloured layer — you're closing the porous surface it was living in.
Some overspill onto the tile is normal and it wipes straight off while it's still wet, which is why you work with a cloth in your other hand.
It's the grout that holds the ink; the glazed tile doesn't.
